Background

A leading logistics operator managing one of the world’s largest multi-level cargo facilities sought to enhance the security of its Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). With sensitive data and operational continuity at stake, the organization required a proactive solution to identify vulnerabilities, mitigate risks, and safeguard against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats while maintaining seamless workflows.

Challenges

The organization wanted to strengthen the security and resilience of its VDI environment. Previous reviews had not fully uncovered several configuration improvement opportunities, particularly around access control, isolation, and monitoring. There was also a need to validate that existing measures—such as file download restrictions—were effective and consistently enforced. The objective was to gain deeper visibility into the VDI setup and identify prioritized, practical actions to fortify both security posture and operational integrity.

Solutions

LPS conducted a comprehensive VDI security assessment powered by Sangfor on the organization’s infrastructure using a dual-phase methodology. Black Box Testing simulated real-world external attacks to assess perimeter defenses, endpoint exposure, and authentication strength. Assumed Breach Testing examined internal risks such as privilege escalation, lateral movement, and sandbox escape.


An in-depth configuration and policy review analyzed VDI settings, access controls, isolation measures, and patch management to ensure alignment with best practices. LPS then worked collaboratively with the client to develop a prioritized roadmap of targeted improvements and monitoring strategies, strengthening overall VDI resilience.

The assessment validated existing strengths while identifying key improvement areas in access management, data protection, and privilege control. LPS’s tailored recommendations reinforced safeguards such as multi-factor authentication, endpoint validation, and data loss prevention, without disrupting user experience.
